The Presbyterian Church in Ireland (PCI) held a Special General Assembly that took place in Assembly Buildings in central Belfast on Wednesday, 18 February. It received updates on progress regarding General Council task groups that were set up as a result of December’s Special Assembly, but it was called by the Moderator, Dr Murray, primarily to address two specific matters:
to consider ceremonial and reporting aspects of the 2026 June Assembly and
approving the appointment process of a new Clerk of the General Assembly.

The General Council is the Church’s senior decision-making body that takes any necessary decisions on behalf of the General Assembly between its meetings. At a meeting of the Council, which took place on 5 February, members agreed the business of the Special General Assembly and the Report and Resolutions that Members of Assembly discussed.
