Special Home Project 2026/27 – Transforming Lives for Good (TLG)
Presbyterian Women’s Special Home Project for 2026/27 will come alongside the amazing work that is being done by TLG. This will provide TLG with the opportunity to share the heart and vision of the charity, the desire to equip, resource, train and empower women (and others within the life of the PCI churches) to make a difference in the lives of children and families in their local communities. TLG see this funding as a valuable resource to ensure they can offer practical support to churches within the PCI network, to encourage partnership with them and see them begin to actively deliver one of our volunteer programmes within their local community. TLG’s volunteer programmes are Early Intervention and Make Lunch.
As Presbyterian Women’s special home project it is hoped that we will raise £15K which will be used to help to inspire churches to get involved practically. This funding would enable TLG to waive training fees on a case-by-case basis and offer impact-based grants for family/community activities once churches are active with one of the programmes. The funding would also assist with the costs associated with video promotional material and social media material. The desire of TLG, through this PW partnership, is to inspire, challenge and equip the women across Presbyterian Women to get involved, begin journeying with children and families in their local communities and for lives to be transformed.
Special Overseas Project 2026/27 - Bible Society Malawi – Family Scripture Engagement Packs
In February 2026, Mrs Fiona Simpson (PW Overseas Vice President) and Mrs Heather Clements (on behalf of PCI’s Council for Global Mission) visited Malawi to learn more about the Bible Society of Malawi’s Family Scripture Engagement Project. This initiative seeks to strengthen family faith life by encouraging households to read, study, and discuss God’s Word together.
Research in Malawi has shown that in many rural areas, families rarely engage with Scripture because they do not own a Bible. To address this, the Bible Society of Malawi has partnered with Scripture Union to provide practical resources that help families develop daily patterns of Bible reading.
The project identifies rural churches where access to Scripture is limited. From each congregation, five families receive a Family Scripture Engagement Pack, which includes:
- a vernacular Bible
- a Chichewa Children’s Bible
- a Scripture Union daily reading guide
These simple packs equip families to gather around God’s Word and grow together in faith.
Presbyterian Women are delighted to partner with the Bible Society of Malawi, alongside the Bible Society in Northern Ireland, to develop this meaningful work. Our goal is to raise £15,000, enabling many more families to receive Scripture in their heart language and to nurture faith from generation to generation.
