First published by the Communications Department following the 2024 General Assembly, there have been a further three editions that have highlighted the debates and discussions that took place at that General Assembly, last June’s General Assembly, and the two subsequent Special General Assemblies. Held in Assembly Buildings in central Belfast, February’s Special Assembly was attended by over 400 ministers and elders, with journalists and members of the public also in attendance.

Welcoming the latest edition, Mark Neale, PCI’s Head of Communications said,

“In publishing this fourth edition of The Review, which gives a snapshot of last week’s Special General Assembly, we wanted to summarise the decisions taken and report on what took place, as the Church seeks to move forward in relation to the central safeguarding failures announced in November and the issues related to them.

“While it only had two specific items of business, with the Moderator leading worship at the opening of the Special Assembly, important updates were given by the Convener of the General Council, and the Deputy Clerk of the General Assembly. I hope that it gives you a flavour of what took place.

“Since we launched The Review following the 2024 General Assembly, it has begun to draw a wide readership. This includes journalists and others who are interested in what is happening in PCI. Our ministers across Ireland are also on the circulation list and encouraged to promote it in their congregational newsletters, as just one part of the way in which we communicate with the Church,” he said.
