Why use ASK?

Prayer should be one of the most natural things we do as a congregation, but many people still find it hard. We might struggle to know what to pray, default to praying for urgent needs, or simply lose heart. Sometimes our prayer life as a church loses momentum altogether.

ASK is a simple tool to help your congregation refocus, refresh and renew its prayer life. It helps shape our prayers around God’s promises and purposes, inviting us to ask, seek and knock with intention.

What is ASK?

ASK is a set of twelve postcard-sized prayer cards that can be used at home or in Sunday worship. Each card is based on a theme drawn from Scripture and includes four prayer prompts for different areas of church life.

The themes are outlined below and PowerPoint slides with the same content are available to support each theme in worship or prayer gatherings.

Each card:

• Focuses your congregation’s prayers on a key aspect of church life
• Offers four prompts based on a short Scripture

The cards are undated, so you can use them in a rhythm that suits your church. For example:

• One card per month, linking to the church year
• One theme each quarter
• A season of prayer focused on one topic

You can also encourage members to use them at home, bookmark them in their Bibles, or save a photo of each on their phone.
