What is Encounters with Jesus?
‘Encounters with Jesus’ is a pilot mini‑series created by Share Jesus International during the first lockdown to resource children’s and family ministry. It features Andy Frost (director of Share Jesus International and contributor to Care for the Family’s Kitchen Table Project), a long‑standing friend of PCI who has spoken at events and created video material for us. Each session also includes an introduction from Ruth Bromley, PCI Children’s Development Officer.
What is included?
Each video includes:
- A local introduction to the theme
- Andy’s lively telling of a Bible story where someone encounters Jesus
- A retelling of the story using footage from the LumoBible Project
- Five practical ideas for families to engage with the story (also adaptable for children’s ministry groups)
Stories include:
- Tree Climbing (Zacchaeus)
- Hungry Tummies (Feeding of the 5,000)
- Smelly Feet (Jesus anointing with perfume)
- Gone Fishing (Jesus and the miraculous catch of fish)
- 12 Years (Jairus’ daughter and the woman in the crowd)
- Sisters (Mary and Martha)
How to Use this Material
This resource can be used flexibly in different ministry settings:
- Digital children’s and family ministry: Videos and follow‑up activities can be shared online with families, included in virtual services or circulated via WhatsApp/Facebook groups. Supplemental worksheets, crafts or songs can be added.
- In‑person children’s ministry: Videos can provide the teaching element, easing preparation needs for leaders. Accompanying worksheets or activities linked to each theme can create varied content. Links can also be sent to parents for use at home during the week.
