Eric and Matilda have always had a knack for bringing people together. Over the years, they have hosted various coffee mornings and neighbourhood evenings in their home, where Eric and others would occasionally share a few words about their faith.
When their minister offered to lead a Bible study in people's homes, Eric and Matilda eagerly pursed the opportunity. They saw this as a perfect way to continue to use their home for hospitality and outreach, especially amongst friends and neighbours who didn't attend church.
Around the kitchen table, they shared food, a Bible study and a time of prayer. The couple believed this common ground would resonate well, as while their friends’ faith was often nominal, they had a strong cultural and religious background. They started with the book of Genesis, which provided a natural introduction to the concept of the need for a Saviour through the story of the fall of man.
Several members of their group have since passed away, but Eric and Matilda take comfort in knowing that these friends heard the gospel. They hope and pray that their friends responded in faith to Jesus as their Lord and Saviour.
