Wexford Church Development Project
The Council for Mission in Ireland is committed to continuing its worshipping and witnessing presence in the South East of Ireland through this new church development project.
Wexford Church Development Prayer Update October 2025
About the project
Following the closure of the previous Presbyterian congregation in Wexford, there has been a desire to re-imagine a Presbyterian presence in the town of Wexford in a way that equips believers and engages those beyond the church. This is a new missional work in a fresh format that also seeks to draw on historic witness in the area under Reformed principles. The town of Wexford, with a population of over 20,000 people in the context of a vibrant shopping, shipping and social area represents a significant opportunity for witness.
Current Work
Rev David Curran is the minister overseeing the Wexford Church Development Project. He continues to be grateful for the support and prayers of all those in PCI who are following the work in establishing a new Church in Wexford town.
Recent months have involved renovating the former church building, being involved in being present during the Fleadh Ceoil festival and making connections with various people in the town. There is a weekly home group bible study on Thursday evenings and there are plans to open the church building on a weekday morning for coffee and conversation. An outreach course was also held recently and Rev Curran carries involvement in local radio services.
The first public service of worship was held in September as part of a pattern of monthly services in the autumn, with an evening Harvest Service and Christmas Carol service are being planned for in the coming weeks. It is planned to move to weekly church services on Sunday mornings in due course, along with regular outreach opportunities. Your prayers are so important for this work.
