Edwin & Anne Kibathi
Edwin and Anne relocated to London from the Presbyterian Church of East Africa (PCEA) in Kenya in 2006. Their vision was to reach out to and minister to the larger East African expatriate community in the UK and began a church planting ministry, known as PCEA UK Outreach.

Edwin and Anne's mission work
The church plant was first established in Plaistow, London, and later operated from Stratford for several years before moving back to Plaistow, where it is currently located. It has continued to grow since then, and at present, the congregation has over 100 adult members. There are also children and young people in the congregation. They meet for worship services every Sunday afternoon at 395 Barking Road in East London and offer a warm welcome to new members and visitors.
In addition, the congregation has a women's guild, a men's fellowship, Sunday school, and a vibrant youth group, each of which takes an active part in the church services during the year. In recent years, three more PCEA fellowships have started in Reading, Luton, and Birmingham. In obedience to the Great Commission, Edwin and Anne interact and network with other churches and Christian organizations within the area. This helps them to contribute their services to the wider community, which they would not otherwise achieve on their own.
Since the Covid-19 pandemic, they have introduced online services, which is also helping them reach those who are far from them.

Prayer points
- Give thanks for the vital and growing ministry of PCEA UK Outreach among Kenyans and other East African expatriates in London, Luton, Reading and in other parts of the UK.
- Pray for daily wisdom and strength for Edwin and Anne and those working with them, as they seek to reach out and share the love of Jesus Christ with the many who have practical needs or are facing hardship or difficulties of one kind or another.
- Pray especially for the ministry to children and young people, that they will grow in their understanding of the Christian faith and find spiritual guidance and encouragement, as they attend the various meetings arranged for them.
Edwin and Anne have recorded a short film clip which can be downloaded and used in church services, prayer meetings or events to raise awareness and prayer for what God is doing across the world, as we seek to go deep and wide in global mission involvement.
Latest report April 2026
Greetings from London,
We are happy to report that we are now back in London after travelling to Kenya for a break. Edwin was away for around six weeks and Anne three weeks. During our time there, Edwin spent a week with an organisation known as Heri foundation to help train Evangelists and Pastors from marginalised communities drawn from six African countries. The conference took place in Kisirian near Nairobi. PCEA UK Outreach members and their friends had assisted in raising some funds for the one-week conference.
Edwin also joined the PCEA worship service to mark 100 years since the first African PCEA Ministers were ordained by the Church of Scotland Mission. The service was held at the Church of the Torch, Kikuyu in the outskirts of Nairobi.
The congregations here in the UK are doing well and on 29 March 2026, the youth were leading the worship services.
This month during Easter and after, we intend to visit and share Holy Communion with several members who have not been able to attend physical worship services due to health issues. In the month of May, some men will be going for a ten-day retreat course. This has been planned since last year and those participating are excited and looking forward to it.
The two TEE classes are still continuing and we thank God that all who started have remained. They meet via zoom on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.
Prayer Points
- Thank God for journey mercies granted to us as we travelled to Kenya and back.
- Pray for the members with some health challenges and that the visits and the Holy communion fellowships will bring renewal and healing to them.
- That the forthcoming men’s retreat will go on well and will bring joy and renewal to the group that will be travelling. That they will be given journey mercies.
- That the TEE students will be resilient and that the studies help them be grounded in the Word of God.
