University Chaplaincy

Through Chaplaincy, the Presbyterian Church in Ireland is able to reach into a wide variety of places where any single local congregation often cannot. One such instance is universities, whereby chaplains can support and assist students at this pivotal time in their lives.

If you would appreciate linking with the services of a university chaplain, please consult the following list of chaplains serving at a number of universities in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland on behalf of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland.

Chaplaincy at Queen’s University

The Chaplaincy Centre based on Elmwood Avenue is at the heart of the Queen’s University Belfast campus. The Chaplaincy Centre offers pastoral care and a counselling service for any student in need of a listening ear or some guidance.

Located at the Malone Road end of Derryvolgie Avenue, Derryvolgie Hall is within a few minutes walking distance of Queen's main university buildings, the PE Centre and local churches. The Hall is a purpose built complex providing self-catering accommodation for 88 students, consisting of nine self-contained flats that house ten students, each with its own kitchen and bathrooms.  Each flat has two community leaders who are responsible for making community things happen – meals together, cinema trips etc.

There is a central communal space – The Art 'n' Soul – which is used for worship and prayer, chilling out and big gatherings. There is also a recreational room where students can relax, play x-box, pool table tennis or table football. In the warmer weather, you wil find everyone outside playing volleyball or basketball in the back garden.
