Presbyterians Condemn McDaid Murder

Following the murder of Kevin McDaid the Presbytery of Coleraine and Limavady have issued the following statement.

As Presbyterian Churches in the Coleraine area we want to express our deepest sympathy to the McDaid Family on the death of Kevin, and to assure the Family of our prayers at this time.

We also wish to state our unreserved condemnation of Kevin's death, and our disgust and shame that those who carried it out claim to be Protestants, and acted as a result of sectarian hatred.

We believe that there is no place for such acts in our society today, and no place for sectarian bigotry that sets people against one another because of different religious backgrounds or political outlooks.

We would urge anyone who has information that might help Kevin's killers be brought to justice to give this to the PSNI immediately.

We commend Mrs McDaid for her call for no retaliation over her husband's death, and we call for calm from all sides of the community at this sad and shocking time.

Rev David Allen
Moderator of the Presbytery of Coleraine and Limavady
