Presbyterian Moderator Dr John Dixon visited the scene of last night's attack in Ballymoney and later went on to meet briefly with the family of Richard, Mark and Jason Quinn.
Afterwards he made the following remarks.
I would express the deep sympathy of the entire Irish Presbyterian Church at the personal loss of three sons both to the boy's family and the local community. All of us are utterly appalled and deeply shocked.
This is not the time to apportion blame to one group or another. The innate hatred that is so widespread in our society has been brought to the surface by the present heightened tension.
Out of this tragedy I hope those who are in disagreement will step back, think clearly and act courageously and compassionately to resolve the impasse that threatens to engulf us all.
I call upon all men and women of goodwill to assert their influence and reach out in love to their neighbours.
