Presbyterian Moderator Dr John Dixon has welcomed the decision of North Belfast Orangemen to accept the determination of the Parades Commission in respect of the 'Tour of the North'.
'I warmly welcome this decision of the Orange Order in North Belfast to accept the determination of the Parades Commission. In the absence of a local agreement being reached, this is the wise and proper option. I believe it reflects the grace enshrined in the Christian principles of the Institution to be considerate and charitable to others. '
At its annual meeting two weeks ago the Presbyterian General Assembly urged that local agreement about parades be reached, but where such agreement about a particular parade could not be reached, the General Assembly urged those who parade and those who protest to abide by the lawfully taken 'determinations' of the Parades Commission.
